My Story

I knew from a young age that I simply couldn't settle for one simple career. I decided to follow my two passions - writing and beauty, knowing that I would one day combine the two to create a niche of skillset and endless variety in whatever it was that I chose to do.

In 2011, I graduated from Elly Lukas (arguably our country's most reputable beauty college) with a Diploma of Beauty Therapy, including ITEC international qualifications. I had already commenced a beauty traineeship in 2010, and in the years following continued to work in a number of spas and salons throughout Melbourne as I worked towards completing a Bachelor of Arts Journalism, Co-Majoring in Public Relations, in 2015. In 2021 I completed my Associate Degree in Dermal Therapies with the Australasian College of Health & Wellness (ACHW) and in 2022 completed my Bachelor of Applied Health Science Clinical Aesthetics.

I have not only worked in a number of content and marketing roles throughout my diverse career, but provided social media and marketing advice, digital strategy, and website support or creation, for the numerous spas and salons I have worked with - in addition to my hands-on beauty therapist duties. My extensive career history also includes public relations and event management, before stepping into industry-specific online editor roles (SPA+CLINIC and Beaute Industrie) producing B2B content, news articles and features direct to business owners and practitioners across the beauty, wellness and aesthetics industry sectors. As a result of my extensive hands-on experience as a beauty therapist and dermal therapist, I have a unique insight into the type of content that business owners and practitioners really want to read, the problems they are facing in-clinic, what it means to deal with clients/patients in the real world, and the intricate workings of beauty or aesthetics business - things that simply cannot be understood in the same way as any other beauty journalist or content creator. This also allows me to understand exactly what you'd like to communicate with your clients and patients (including the often complex content of medical aesthetics) and translate this into simple-to-understand, engaging and relatable content that consumers can enjoy.

My Approach

I love incorporating my colourful mix of skills and experience into my roles, and am passionate about sharing my knowledge in order to help others flourish. My years as a therapist constantly informs my content and sparks new story ideas, and my background in marketing and public relations means I have the unique ability to incorporate marketing plans, digital strategy, events management, tips for increased exposure, and business advice into my practical beauty therapy roles too. I have always been a 'yes' girl, I love what I do, ooze passion for this industry, have an eye for beauty and the finer details, and want to help each and every individual that I form a connection with.

I very much believe in continued education and giving back to industry. You'll find me at just about any industry conference and event, learning about the latest research and developments and meeting the industry's best and brightest, so that this can feed back into my work and improve my writing skills. An ever-growing network also allows me to facilitate interprofessional connections and expand opportunities for students, business owners, brands, or practitioners - whether this be through my own work, or as part of my volunteer positions with ASDC, or student representative for ACHW respectively.

I'm truly grateful each day for the opportunities to work alongside some of our industry's finest, and if there is any way I can help improve your business or make life a little easier for you, I would love to hear from you.
